With the upgrade to iOS 16.3 and above, owners of the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max will experience ID barcode scanning issues. After multiple failed scan attempts, the owner is forced to use the manual photo capture process.

Intellicheck is implementing a fix whereby the device owner is presented with a pop-up screen to identify if the device they are using is an iPhone 12 Pro or iPhone 12 Pro Max.

If the device is an iPhone 12 Pro or Pro Max or iPhone 13 Pro or Pro Max, this one-time pop-up appears just when the “Capture ID/Start Scanning” screen displays prior to the first barcode scan or image capture.
Users will need to proceed as follows:
Click OK—If the device is either an iPhone 12 Pro or iPhone 12 Pro Max. This allows the scanner to choose the appropriate (main camera lens) to scan a barcode or image capture.
Click Cancel—If the device is not an iPhone 12 Pro or iPhone 12 Pro Max, the scanner will accommodate the iPhone 13 Pro and choose the wide camera lens.

Known Issue:
Some owners of the iPhone 12 Pro & Pro Max devices running iOS 16.3 and above may continue to experience problems capturing the barcode from their identity document.

The cause of this problem has been determined to be a display setting that is currently incompatible with the barcode capture software.
If you or your end-users experience any problems, please verify that the Display Zoom is set to default.
Settings -> Display & Brightness -> Display Zoom = Default

Additionally, after a number of failed scan attempts, a manual capture process will become available to take a photo of the document.

Intellicheck is working on a solution to rectify the Known Issue as quickly as possible. Further information will be provided as it develops.
